What’s the project? Why does The Vines need a New Vision?
Community ideas and feedback are being sought to Shape the Future as we bring to life a New Vision for The Vines.
The new and exciting Vision we are creating will see The Vines transformed into a contemporary community hub which hosts recreation, residential, entertainment and family-friendly activities.
Golf will remain an integral part of the precinct – with plans to upgrade golfing facilities with modern experiences that will appeal to more people of all ages.
The best 18-holes will be retained and returned to the Championship Course Standard.
Who is leading the project?
Expectations about our facilities and how they are used have changed. It is time to renew and re-invest in The Vines to create an attractive, durable and contemporary community hub.
Like all sporting facilities, golf clubs need to move with the times to stay viable. It is no longer cost effective for us to maintain our current facilities given changes in user expectations.
The Vines aspires to become the entertainment place of choice in Perth’s North Eastern suburbs. To achieve this, we need to offer more to attract a greater number of visitors, meet local expectations and broaden our residential choices. The Vines will expand by investing in state-of-the-art facilities for all ages to attract more families and people of all ages.
Bringing more residents and visitors to The Vines is a great thing for us all. For the residents, it means more facilities and a broader range of housing options to suit your lifestyle. For members it means access to higher quality golfing experiences. For the Resort, it means more people to use our facilities and support our businesses, which in turn, is reflected in our ability to invest and maintain high quality facilities.
Hatch RD has been appointed to prepare the Vision, on behalf of The Vines WA. Hatch RD will also coordinate the engagement process to gather input from residents and members
How can I get involved?
The feedback gathered will be reviewed and used to help shape the Future Vision. The data will inform and prioritize the types of facilities that will be included.
What facilities will be provided in the Community Entertainment Hub and Parks + Open Spaces?
Information Boards will be on display at the Vines Resort from 15 June – 31 July. Online and hard copy surveys will be provided to capture feedback. Face to face meetings can be arranged by appointment.
When can we expect the new Driving Range and 9-hole short course to be open?
Additional facilities are likely to include cafes and restaurants, playgrounds, parks, walking + running trails, cycle paths, BBQ shelters and gazebos. Each of these facilities are expected to also bring new jobs and employment opportunities to the area.
Feedback and ideas captured through this process will ultimately guide and shape the types of facilities that will be delivered.
When will the new lots be available for sale?
No timings are locked in.
We want the ideas and community feedback to shape the vision. Currently our thinking is based on a driving range like the Wembley Golf Course facility, and to create the range and 9-hole short course. A feasible development timeline could be for Winter / Spring 2024.
Why can’t the closed 9-holes on the Ellenbrook course be retained as a big park?
It will take an extended period to conclude the Visioning and Planning Approval Process. We expect a range of new lots could be delivered to market from 2024. Delivery is likely to be staged.
What is planned for the Seniors Lifestyle Living?
Extended natural parklands with additional landscaping close to houses is a potential bushfire hazard and will be difficult for the Vines and the City of Swan to maintain at a reasonable standard, in the long term. The creation of housing amongst the parklands will ensure a good mix of activities, and the spaces remain well used, safe and well looked after.
We are open to exploring ways to better protect the fauna, such as a kangaroo relocation program and / or planting a mix of exotics and native species for native animal and bird habitat.
What are the Planning Approvals / Next Steps ?
Many of our senior residents live in larger homes and are reaching an age where they are ready to downsize. There are limited places to go, without having to leave the Vines. A key objective is to explore lifestyle options to provide for ageing in place at The Vines.
We propose establishing a Seniors Living Village which offers the benefits of O55’s living, without the burden of a lifelong lease. Purchasers will own their home. The title will be registered exclusively to the owners, and it can be sold at any time. Safeguards will be put in place to make sure it remains as an over-55’s lifestyle village in perpetuity.
How do I register my interest in the engagement process?
Once the Vision is confirmed, it will be submitted to the City of Swan as a part of the statutory approval process.
