Junior Golf Program

The Vines Resort & Country Club and head teaching professional Mark Tibbles from the MTI Golf Academy have combined to promote the game of golf to children in the local community by offering a structured Junior Program. The Junior Development Program is designed to give juniors the necessary knowledge and experience to become accomplished golfers. 

As well as developing their golfing skills, they will learn the correct etiquette required, good sportsmanship and the social skills that the game of golf teaches. Just as important is the emphasis we place on safety and making golf fun to learn.

The Junior Golf Program is widely regarded in WA as the most comprehensive program offered to children. This was recognised by the Professional Golfers Association when Mark Tibbles was awarded the 2008 and the 2010 PGA of Australia WA/NT Division Junior Leader of the Year.

The program consists of five tiers:

Tier One: Entry Level 1

This provides a perfect introduction to golf for children from the age of six years. Content includes:
- Grip, stance & posture
- Swing fundamentals
- Iron play and wood play
- Putting, chipping, pitching and sand shots
- Golf Clubs and their various uses
- Golf etiquette
- Skills tests, games & giveaways

Classes are conducted on Thursday, Friday & Saturday afternoons, throughout the school term & school holiday workshops are offered.

Tier Two

Having participated in an entry level program, and having passed a number of skills tests, children are eligible to enrol in the Entry Level 2 Program. Classes are held each Saturday afternoon throughout each school term.
Content includes:
- Weekly key points of focus
- Golf etiquette
- Golf terminology
- Basic golf rules
- Marking a score card
- The most common golf games (Stroke, Stableford, Ambrose)
- On course play
- Skills tests and competitive play

Tiers Three, Four & Five:

The Vines Junior Membership Program (Development, Intermediate & Advanced levels)

Once children have successfully complete the Entry Level 2 Program by way of skills tests, developed a sound knowledge of the game, demonstrated good behaviour and golf etiquette on the golf course, we encourage parents to join their child as Junior Members of The Vines Resort & Country Club. As Junior Members they have the opportunity to further develop as golfers by participating in The Vines Junior Membership Program, where they may progress from the Development Squard (Tier 3) to the Intermediate Squad (Tier 4) and then to the Advanced Squad (Tier 5).
Development Squad sessions are held on Thursday afternoons, Intermediate Squad sessions are held on Monday afternoons and Advanced Squad sessions are held on Wednesday afternoons. The Program runs from July 1 to June 30 each year to coincide with the Club year, however juniors may apply to join the Program during the course of the year if places are available

- Weekly Squad Training sessions held throughout each school term
- School holiday workshops
- Private golf lessons with video analysis
- Junior Program Workbook
- Junior Program uniform
- Registration Fee paid to Golf Australia's MyGolf Program
- Daily range ball allowance for practice
- Junior Rewards Program
- Full playing rights at The Vines Resort & Country Club
- Competition Play
- Pennant Team training (Advanced squad)
